The music OF the pearl.

I think that the last line of this story means that the pearl has died and now is no longer evil because it is gone and, Kino's life is back to normal. Now, Kino knows when he finds something of great value, he has to keep it a secret, or else the same thing might happen again. The effect on Kino's family was horrible, the baby got shot because of the peal. The community in which Kino lives in has been affected by this pearl by his house getting burned down and that everybody went crazy about how big this pearl was, and how much money they can make from selling it.

The Blogger's answer met the standard because: You gave a few examples about Kino, the community, and the evil of the pearl, but you didn't say why the music was a reoccurring theme in the story. You did understand the symbolism of the pearl, you connected that symbolism to Kino and his family, you saw it's effect on the society, but you just left out the motif of the music. Your best line was "Now, Kino knows when he finds something of great value, he has to keep it a secret, or else the same thing might happen again." This is completely true and Kino definitely learned his lesson. Overall, your post covered almost everything, but I gave you a "Meets Standards"because you didn't explain the motif of the music.
